Two Transformational 专门化

Two Paths: Master of Arts or 研究生 Certificate

Educators embrace the merits of lifelong learning. To support that continuous pursuit of knowledge, we have two different levels of our Educational Leadership program.

You can earn your Master of Arts in Educational Leadership degree with an emphasis in SEL, 字符, and Ethics, or Cognition, Motivation, and Development (30 units), or you can complete just the emphasis of your choice and receive a SEL 研究生 Education Certificate, or Cognition, Motivation, and Development 研究生 Certificate (15台). Both paths offer the opportunity to learn the skills necessary to promote long-term change and build positive school environments with support systems to reach the whole child.

Curriculum概述

The Master of Arts in Educational Leadership is a 30-unit program, split into 15 units of core courses and 15 units of specialization courses.

The program offers two specializations: Social Emotional Learning, 字符, and Ethics; and Cognition, Motivation, and Development. Students may enroll in either specialization to earn a 15-unit 研究生 Education Certificate or may complete the specialization as part of their 30-unit M.A. in Educational Leadership.

This course will present the value of incorporating the servant 领导 model into one’s repertoire as an educational leader today. Students will identify key characteristics and strategies that will enhance their legacy as a leader who galvanizes positive changes in the lives of students, 的同事们, 父母, and the overall school culture.

EDEL 550: Contemporary Cultural and Political Issues in Education

This course will provide an overview of the social, 文化, and political issues and trends that affect the 领导 in today’s American schools. Students will learn to view polemical issues from multiple vantage points to better understand the diverse perspectives that permeate society today and then lead with 智慧, 荣誉, 和性格.

EDCE 543: Managing Classroom and School-Wide Behavior

This course will help leaders in education develop a proactive approach to preventing and solving problem behavior on a school-wide basis through effective instructional programs and staff development. Specific strategies will be examined on how to teach appropriate behavior, motivate the apathetic, and reinforce those who exhibit positive behavior.

EDCE 553: Building 字符 and Ethics in Today’s Schools

This course will provide clear rationale for intentionally incorporating a comprehensive character education program in today’s schools and proactive strategies to help students understand the urgency and relevancy of internalizing ethical values such as respect, 诚实, 正义, 公民美德, 同情, and kindness into their core as people of integrity. The benefits to schools that incorporate character education programs will be examined such as: higher academic performance, 提高出勤率, 减少暴力事件, fewer disciplinary issues, and overall improvement in children’s emotional, 道德, and intellectual development.

Dr. 肯特Schlichtemeier

教授 & 仆人领导研究所 Director

Dr. 肯特Schlichtemeier started his teaching 护理er in 1978 and transitioned from secondary to collegiate education in 1988. Dr. Schlichtemeier served as a professor in the 教育学院 at Concordia University Irvine from 1988-2003 where he mentored future teachers while also completing his doctorate in Educational Leadership at UCLA in 1996. Dr. Schlichtemeier served as a teacher and Assistant Principal at Orange Lutheran High School from 2003-2007 before returning to teach at Concordia, serving as Dean of the 教育学院, and founding the 仆人领导研究所.

Dr. 洛丽·多伊尔

Associate 教授 and MAEL Director

Dr. 洛丽·多伊尔 works as Associate 教授 of Education at Concordia University Irvine where she serves as Director of the Master of Arts in Educational Leadership program and Assistant Director of the 仆人领导研究所. She has completed and managed extensive Curriculum development projects at the university and serves as Subject Matter Expert for courses in multiple MA programs. Working as an instructor also keeps her mindful of relevant and changing trends in education. Lori has taught at several universities over the past twenty-two years, but her 护理er began as a high school English and theology teacher and Curriculum writer. She holds a California Clear Credential in Secondary Education, MAEd in Curriculum and 指令, and a PhD in Psychology with an emphasis in Cognition. Her areas of research interest are adult education, 圣经的上下文, 领导, Curriculum, Social Emotional Learning, and faculty mental health.
